El dimarts 27 de juny a les 11:30, a l'aula Aula Seminari D5-007 de l'edifici D5 del Campus Nord de la UPC, el professor Leonid Kazovsky de la Stanford University donarà la conferència titulada "Stanford Research in Photonic Networks".

Summary:
This talk will provide an in-depth look into the research program of his Stanford group, the Photonics and Networking Research Laboratory. Prof. Kazovsky will cover three of our recent research programs: (a) GOBIT, for Green Optical in-Building IT; (b) QPAR, for Quasi-Passive Reconfigurable Nodes; and (c) UltraFlow, which investigated novel Internet architectures integrating IP and circuit-oriented technologies.

Bio of Prof. Leonid Kazovsky:
Prof. Leonid Kazovsky joined Stanford University in 1990.
He founded Photonics and Networking Research Laboratory (PNRL) at Stanford University and lead PNRL since establishing it in 1990.
PNRL conducted research on green (energy efficient) optical/wireless access networks, in-building networks, quasi-passive photonic components, and next-generation Internet architectures.
Prior to joining Stanford, Prof. Kazovsky was with Bellcore doing research on coherent, WDM, high-speed and other advanced optical fiber communication systems (later, Bellcore changed its name to Telcordia, and was acquired by Ericsson).
Prof. Kazovsky’s research of coherent optical systems resulted in what is widely considered key foundations of modern coherent systems.
While on Bellcore assignments or Stanford sabbaticals, Prof. Kazovsky worked at the Heinrich Hertz Institute, Berlin, Germany; Hewlett-Packard Research Laboratories, Bristol, England; Technical University of Eindhoven, Eindhoven, the Netherland; Scuola Superiore St. Anne, Pisa, Italy; Danish Technical University, Copenhagen, Denmark; Acreo, Stockholm, Sweden; Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M) under the Chair of Excellence Program; and Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC), Barcelona, Spain.
